AMS Keynote Speaker: Ellen Galinsky

“WHAT HAPPENS TO THE FIRE IN CHILDREN’S EYES?” is a question that led Ellen Galinsky, author of Mind in the Making, and on an eight-year journey of discovery.

She was determined to reconcile the difference between the image she had of babies and young children, who are “voracious learners, absolutely unrelenting, in their attempts to see, touch, understand and master everything”, with her other image of older children who are no longer engaged in learning, who “aren’t just dropping out of school — far too many are dropping out of learning”.

Trevor Eissler Brings his Mantra of Education Choice and Montessori Solutions to Ohio

Email or Call Now (614-754-1592) to reserve your spot!

An engaging and relatable speaker, Trevor Eissler’s quest for the best education for his child led to his family’s discovery of Montessori education.

  • Thursday, February 10, 2011
  • 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
  • Ohio Dominican University — Griffin Student Center
  • 1191 Sunbury Rd., Columbus, OH 43219

Eissler, like most parents who are exposed to Montessori Methods, quickly fell in love with the approach. Unlike most parents, however, he began a crusade to bring awareness of Montessori to the masses so that other parents could also experience his understanding of why an educational theory grounded in observing individual children enjoy discovering learning makes sense.

Mr Eissler wrote a book which has received rave reviews from all walks of the educational reform front,  started a groundswell of support to, among many other mediums, air a Montessori Awareness ad during the Super Bowl, founded Project Montessori with Bobby George, and took a leave of absence from his ‘day job’ to travel around the country with a message of educational choice and awareness.

With that year closing down, he brings his message of educational choice and Montessori for all children to Columbus, Ohio.  Please come out to hear this dynamic speaker talk about dynamic learning.

Montessori Madness Author Trevor Eissler to Speak in Columbus Feb 10th

Save the date! The first COMP speaker presentation in Central Ohio is booked!

Trevor Eissler, author of the madly popular Montessori Madness, will be speaking at Ohio Dominican University on Monday, February 10th at 7:00 PM.

From the Amazon.com book review…

We know we need to improve our traditional school system, both public and private. But how? More homework? Better-qualified teachers? Longer school days or school years? More testing? More funding?

No, no, no, no, and no. Montessori Madness! explains why the incremental steps politicians and administrators continue to propose are incremental steps in the wrong direction. The entire system must be turned on its head. This book asks parents to take a look one thirty-minute observation at a Montessori school. Your picture of what education should look like will never be the same.

Montessori Madness! follows one family with young children on their journey of determination, discovery, and delight. Learn the who, what, when, where, why, and how of Montessori education.

This book makes an aggressive, humorous, and passionate case for a brilliant method of education that has received too little attention, very likely because it is based on a revolutionary, dangerous, and shocking concept: children love to learn!

Share Your Original Classroom Works and Get Ideas – Jan 22

Let's learn from each other and benefit the Central Ohio Montessori Community's Children

from the Columbus Montessori Blog…..

All Montessori Instructors are welcomed and encouraged to attend Montessori Works day at the Columbus Montessori Education Center.

Ever see a child with a need and devise a solution for meeting that need via a new work in your classroom?

On January 22 from 9am to 12pm ,teachers can bring in their Original works that they have created for the classroom along with copies of the write up (lesson plan).  We will have the works set up at tables so people can go around and look at everything.

Montessori faculty can take pictures and take the write up of the works they like.  At the end, everyone will leave with new ideas to take back into their classroom.

We All Need Each Other – Help Us All Organize and Spread the Word

The word is Montessori. The time is now.

More and more as educational leadership across the country searches for remedies in response to an increasing awareness of how broken the system is in our country at the moment, the more often they develop some sort of best practice that looks and acts like Montessori Philosophy.

Let’s cut to the chase. Montessorians, Home Schoolers, Government, Educational leaders, Professors, School Administrators and those who care about the continued welfare of our children unite and spread the word.

To become part of The Solution and help spread the word about the Central Ohio Montessori Partnership, email us today.

Thank You.
